Cubs Win!

The Cubs fans are weeping, dancing in the streets, whooping in taverns, and kissing strangers over the first NL Central Division championship since 1989. The Tribune Photos of celebrating fans make me wish I was there. My whole family was at Wrigley today, and I couldn't even watch the decisive doubleheader on TV. I'm still anxiously awaiting the late national news for highlights. My cruel brothers called and left a message from the ballpark, but then didn't answer their cellphones so I could hear the roar of the crowd as the Cubs made their date with destiny. But I'm pretty darn happy regardless. The next few weeks should be good ones.

Consolation: it was a beautiful day on the island and the playoffs are sure to be nationally televised.
